Camp: Our New Favorite Spot in Hollywood , FL

Camp Cocktail Bar + Grill, a fresh new bar and grill has come to Downtown Hollywood, FL recently and Deco Drive even noticed. The bar is a fun take on summer camp but without the bug bites and burnt hot dogs. They have a great selection of craft beverages and tasty bar bites and we just couldn’t resist showing up for their grand opening!

Take a look

Tarpon River Brewing’s Grand Opening

When we made our way in the brewery the first thing we noticed was there was a house inside the warehouse! It had a very old Florida feel and we loved every bit of it. This brewery is the epitome of South Florida and as Fort Lauderdale as you are going to get. The owners are a joint venture between The Native Brewing Company, Riverside Market and The Restaurant People (who own YOLO, Boatyard and Tarpon Bend to name a few) so you know it was going to be good before even arriving.

It was insanely busy! I’m glad we were smart enough to take the motorcycle there because I don’t think we would have found parking. The front of the “house” had a porch with little garden tables full of guests eating. To the right of the “house” was the front yard with artificial grass and all, where a one man band was playing. Further down to the right were all the tanks. If you walk through the front door you will find the tap room. It took forever to make it to the bar and be able to order a beer. Despite the craziness of a grand opening, a majority of the bartenders still managed to keep smiles on their faces when they finally were able to take your order.

We tried the Hop Stache IPA. It was light for IPA’s but still a nice one. They had another IPA on the tap but it was already sold out by the time we heard it was a good one. The menu looked nice and to at least try something we just shared the mac n cheese. Maybe another night we will go back and try the burgers because they looked good. We had dinner somewhere else.

I love grand openings. I have done a few in my career as a chef. It is such a great learning experience for everyone involved. Over all I think they did a great job and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the beers and food. Maybe during the week when it isn’t so crazy. I just read on their Facebook that they do brunch! YUM

Ride to Miami Brewing Co. to Black Point and All Around South Florida

This ride was truly a great time. We did it on April 9th, 2017 and I’m just now getting around to talking about it and putting together some of the footage we took. Rob and I met on April 9th but we didn’t become official until April 20th so we say our anniversary is on the 20th but we kinda celebrate both days! I would say this ride was pretty romantic since it was just the two of us. Rob was on his Harley and I was on the Triumph. This was the last ride we went on before I sold my bike. I will probably get another bike one day soon but for now I’m on the back of Rob’s Harley.

Our first stop on this ride was to Miccosukee Resort for the breakfast buffet.

Our next stop was at the Miami Brewing Co./Schnebly Winery for one beer and a tour around the brewery and winery. It was a very beautiful place. The beer was good but we were riding our motorcycles and didn’t want to drink anymore so we didn’t try any wine this trip. We are planning a trip back there soon.

We made a quick stop at the Homestead-Miami Speedway but it was $20 to park then we had to pay to get in and I wasn’t that interested so we moved on to the next stop.

Next we went to Black Point Ocean Grill for a snack and a cocktail. It was packed and the band was cute. They were an older couple doing covers of a lot of new music. There were a lot of bikes parked out there. Very popular place for bikers from what I hear.

Finally, our last stop was Matheson Hammock Park. Very beautiful place with amazing views of Miami and Stiltsville which is in Biscayne National Park.

We can’t wait to share our next adventure where we take a ride back down to Key Largo and take a introduction to sailing course to see if we like the lifestyle or not.
