One Month Later

It has been about a month since we put this video up and we have to say this is a great cooler. We bring it back and forth to the property in North Florida, take it with us on Costco runs, and found a nice spot on the port settee fastened with bungie chords in the sailboat. With a price tag of something less than a Yeti, you can’t deny this is a good buy!

Best Small Quiet Generator – Cummins Onan P4500i

One problem we needed solving lately was being able to boondocks a night or 2 on the RV before or after going to a campsite. Why you ask? Well, so we can take longer weekend trips and Rob can work from the RV. All he needs is an internet connection, power to the laptop and… well… air conditioning!

We wanted something that would also be perfect for the sailboat too, because after all, sailboats are just floating RV’s anyway. Our biggest hinderance from taking the sailboat or RV anywhere further than a few hours from South Florida is Robert’s job. Haha I know how that sounds! Work really does get in the way of our play (that’s so sarcastic by the way)!

After months of research and testing our small generator and my dad’s Honda EU3000is (which worked but was super old and leaked a bit), we came the across the Cummins Onan P4500i. The only problem was it was always sold out and that’s why it took us months to research. One day it magically appeared, only 1 in stock so we stanched it up faster than a fat kid eating cake.

In this video, we unbox and review the Cummins ONAN P4500i Digital Inverter Generator. We find out if it can start a 15k BTU A/C and remain relatively quiet under load. We use our Db meter and test the sound levels as well.

Buy a similar generator on Amazon https://amzn.to/30yaBsx (the one we just reviewed is not on amazon right now. We Will edit this link when we notice it is available again)

Largest Dude Ranch East of the Mississippi!

We took our new travel trailer on her first weekend trip to the largest dude ranch East of the Mississippi! River Ranch RV Resort is located next to the Westgate River Ranch Resort. They say the birthplace of the American Cowboy is right here in Florida! Makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Haven’t you noticed all the cow pastures everywhere? The RV sites were fantastic and the resort was still a lot of fun despite the pandemic. We can’t believe we never went to a rodeo before, what a blast!

Florida Bay Sailing

We almost didn’t take the drive down to Key Largo a couple weeks ago. The forecast called for rain, as usual. The weekday’s are always gorgeous but as soon as Friday comes along… rain, rain and more rain. On top of that, there was a tropical system in the Gulf. We didn’t care, its Florida after all and growing up here gives us the experience to know that if it calls for rain, it probably isn’t going to.

Key Largo is probably one of our favorite keys in the Florida Keys. In less than a 2 hour to drive, you are in a completely different place. As soon as you pass the blue wall, you’re on island time and nothing else matters but having a cocktail and watching the sunset.

Our destination for this weekend was a place we’ve been to before and sad to say we never knew it was there! To the right of the Caribbean Club is a boat ramp where we launched the jet ski from before. That was a really cool trip actually. CLICK HERE to watch that fun day. However, to the left was Florida Bay Outfitters, where they have Hobie kayak rentals, sales as well as an adorable shop and the best part is they do repairs too! Monica and Frank showed us some amazing hospitality and were kind enough to let us take out their Hobie Mirage Tandem Island. We could’t have asked for a better day. It was overcast and a little windy.

Watch the video here:

Our destination: Nest Key. Rob stumbled on this camping island several weeks ago and we’ve been talking about going camping there with Luna, our sailboat, ever since. Rob was searching the maps looking for the best route to take and trying to figure out the best place to launch from (sailing from home will take to long and some of us have to go back to work on Monday morning unfortunately). That’s probably about the same time we discovered Florida Bay Outfitters.

The downside of this day was we learned that Luna won’t make it to Nest Key being she has a 5 foot draft and the waters are pretty shallow in that area. We were told that someone else tried to get there on their sailboat and kept running grounds. Looks like we will have to take out a couple Hobie Tandem Islands, pack some camping gear in some dry bags and go camping anyway! The prices for the rentals were good and they mentioned that you can rent the kayaks for overnight trips too. In fact they already camped on Nest Key and used the Tandem Island to get there.

We ended the great day with a nice meal and a beautiful sunset, 2 doors down at Sundowners. Thank you Monica and Frank with Florida Bay Outfitters for showing us a lovely time. We will definitely be back again soon!

We are extremely excited for the upcoming months and are even more excited you all are here to join us.

I know it’s a bit early but I just designed this Christmas anchor and wanted to share our Teespring store with you.

A couple weekends ago we went down to The Keys for a weekend adventure at Florida Bay Outfitters where they were kind enough to let us take out one of their Hobie’s. Look out for that post, it’s coming soon. The video is already up on YouTube.

We finally put Luna in and went sailing after about 7 whole months of her just sitting in our yard! Rob’s mother joined us for what turned out to be a perfect Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for that post.

Also, we toured a couple of the Sea Shepherds ships. Those videos will be published over the next few days. We love what they do for our oceans and were very excited to see the ships and hear all about it.

We Installed Trims Tabs to our Dinghy

In this episode we install and review Nauticus Smart Tabs ST780-20. We had a hard time getting our dinghy to plane even after pitching down the prop and adding a hydrofoil to the outboard. Our solution was to install a set of Nauticus Smart Tabs and we used kit ST780-20. The install was very easy and we had some excellent results!

Here’s how to install the trim tabs and the full review

Get your smart tabs HERE

Stay tuned as we test the dinghy with the original prop and make changes to the pressure settings of the tabs.

Camping at Super Sebring 2019

Super Sebring 2019 and the Green Park Spring Break Party with the 1000 Miles of Sebring and the 12 Hours of Sebring 2019! Join us as we take Apple for her first time to Super Sebring! We’re camping in Green Park and enjoy the wild spectacle that is Sebring! Watch the video, It’s a lot of fun!

We arrived to the staging area around midnight to get in line. The gates open at 5:30am Wednesday morning and we wanted to ensure at least a decent spot in Green Park. There were hundreds of RVs already waiting and from what we heard, they had been there for several weeks already!

At 7am we finally entered Sebring International Raceway and drove around a bit to look for a nice spot. Apparently since there was a lot of new improvements done to the raceway, the locals were aloud to claim their spots a week prior and the hundreds of RVs that were ahead of us in line all took the best spots against the fence that overlooks the racetrack. Some of those spots are not to be messed with however. A majority of them have been coming to this race for 20, 30 and even 40+ years and camp at the same spot every year. I wouldn’t want to mess with them. There are also some camps that are landmarks there and you wouldn’t want to get in their way. Like Hank and Shela’s Big Friken Tent. It is a huge circus tent, open to everyone, that has live music, a DJ and a full bar. If it wasn’t for them, Green Park wouldn’t be as fun. There is also Turn 10. Its a bunch of friends that take the same spot on turn ten for several years (like over 40 years!), set up huge scaffolding and they welcome everyone to hang out with them.

The races were pretty fun to watch. If you go by the camps alongside the track they usually have the radio on playing the commentary so at least you know whats going on. The hairpin turn is a popular turn. I think it is a cool spot because its such a sharp turn that they cars have to slow down quite a bit and you can really see them. That’s also where you see the fireworks the best.

If you go to the pit area, the only thing separating most of the pits and you is a chain link fence. The video above shows us catching a pit stop and a driver change which was pretty neat. Unfortunately, Corvette racing, the only one we really wanted to watch, was behind the bathrooms so we were aloud to walk halfway down the way to catch a little video before she told us we had to back up. You are also aloud to walk through the paddock. That is where all the trucks are lined up with all the garages. As you are walking down the stretch you can almost touch all the race cars. Only a yellow line on the ground stops you from entering each tent where they made any modifications or prepare the cars for the race. We witnessed them taxi the cars out to the track for practice right in front of us.

The nights were a little loud by where we set up camp. It didn’t really stop us from getting an OK night’s sleep. We were so tired from all the walking around in the sun that by midnight or 1am we were out like a light despite the loud rock band playing across the way.

We are definitely going back next year. Maybe with a little travel trailer or a pop up, or maybe we will just tent camp again. Either way, we might head there a day sooner in hopes to get a better spot in line. I also have a better idea on how to set up our camp to make it more cozy and less likely for people walking through it at night, tripping over our tent staked and stepping on the solar lights, which happened…at about 3:30 in the morning…

She Made Me Eat Snails!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

small-clipart-valentine-20

Last week we went to pay a visit to Le Bistro. A French bistro owned by an instructor from Apple’s culinary school that was featured on Kitchen Nightmares! He’s a British man with a hell of a character and a great culinary instructor. Le Bistro was a place that Apple would point out every time we found ourselves heading on US1 in Pompano Beach. “We have to eat there sometime” she would say “That’s the chef I know that was on Kitchen Nightmares, it was hilarious!”  This went on for a couple of years until one day they posted a special pre fixe menu that included a bottle of wine and the price seemed right.

It was finally time to check this bistro out and, well… since we are YouTubers… we made a video about it!

Hope you enjoy!
